The
English Lake District is renowned for its breathtaking beauty. The Cumbrian
Northern Lakes, especially around Keswick, are an excellent holiday location
for
walking,
touring,
or
for
simply relaxing, at any time of the year. Each season brings its own colours
and
delights to the stunning scenery.
Keswick
is only five minutes away by car - or perhaps a 20 minute level walk on a well
defined path that bridges the River Derwent. Many
local entertainments are available include the renowned "Theatre by the Lake",
parks, museums, a minature golf course (at Threlkeld a full 18 hole course), a
leisure pool, and cinema. Horse riding, fishing and water sports available in
the immediate area. At
various times of the year the Keswick Jazz Festival, Beer Festival, Local Carnivals
and Keswick Show, including the nearby Borrowdale Shepherds Meet take place. Also
a December Victorian Fayre. There is also a very active weekly Saturday Market.
Portinscale has an attractive coffee / tea room. Very nearby here is the
four
star
Derwentwater
Hotel restaurant.
The
Farmers Arms is 5 minutes walk, providing excellent fare, with the
local Jennings beers brewed in nearby Cockermouth (with brewery
tours available).
